View up Loch Sunart The Corran ferry The manse and glebe Sunset over Loch Sunart

By road Unless you are coming via Acharacle or Lochaline you need to find your way to the Corran Ferry. You can reach the ferry either from the north-east (8 miles from Fort William on the A82) or from the south. Roads from Oban (A828) or Edinburgh / Glasgow (A82 after Crianlarich) meet at the Ballachulish Bridge roundabout. Take the A82 (signed for Fort William) and go north for 3 miles - through Onich - to the ferry. The ferry leaves from the south (Corran / Onich) side generally every 30 minutes at quarter to and quarter past the hour (see next section for details). Strontian is 15 miles west of the Corran Ferry on the A861 and takes around 20 minutes. Turn left when you leave the ferry and follow the main road, ignoring the two left turns on the way to Strontian. Cross the large stone bridge in Strontian and continue west on the A861, following the sign to ‘The Ben View Hotel’.(See map at bottom of this page) After just over a mile you cross a small stone bridge. Immediately after the bridge is a small road to your right signposted for both ‘The Ben View Hotel’ and ‘Ardnamushrooms’. Turn right here. Drive up the road, through the Ben View Hotel’s car park and continue up the small straight road for a further 200m where you will find both the Ardnamushrooms facility on the right, and our granite house ‘Longrigg Manse’ on the left.

Corran Ferry The five minute crossing generally departs promptly every 15 minutes. Weekdays and Saturdays the first crossing is 06.30 hrs and 08.30 on Sunday. Departures are generally quarter past and quarter to the hour from the Corran side and on the hour and half past the hour from the Ardgour side. All last crossings are 21.20 hrs from the Ardgour side and 21.30 hrs from the Corran side. Foot passengers and cycles are free and cars (plus all passengers) are £5.20 per crossing. For details check: Lochaber Transport

By train The rail journey from Glasgow to Fort William is stunningly beautiful (weather permitting). It takes around 3¾ hours and there are usually around 3 trains each day. Check out these websites to plan your journey and book tickets: www.firstgroup.com/scotrail/ www.nationalrail.co.uk www.transportdirect.info

By bus There are regular buses from Glasgow with around four each day (leaving Glasgow Central at 7.00, 10.00, 15.00 and 18.00 hrs) and they take around 2 ¾ - 3 hours to get to the Corran Ferry bus stop. If you get to Fort William from the other direction (NE) then it would greatly help if you could get to the Corran Ferry so we can pick you up on ‘our’ (Ardgour) side. Scottish Citylink buses go from Fort William past the Corran Ferry (a 15 minute trip) around four times each day (check their website, below, for details / changes), currently 7.45, 11.20, 14.35 and 19.10 hrs. It is possible to check timetables and book / pay online (and print out your own ‘e-ticket’) at: www.citylink.co.uk Local buses (44/44B service) also leave Fort William and stop at the Corran Ferry. Some buses start from the ‘Interchange’ (the main bus / coach stop area alongside the big ‘Morrisons’ supermarket) 10.35, 12.35, 14,35, 17.40 and 20.00 hrs Monday to Saturday and 11.25, 13.25 and 16.55 hrs on Sundays. These buses also stop at the Fort William ‘Middle Street’ stop (north of the shops next to the large car park at the east end of the High Street). Other local buses start at the ‘Middle Street’ stop and go to the Corran Ferry stop on their way to Kinlochleven. In addition to the buses that start at the ‘Interchange’ (mentioned above) buses also leave from this stop Monday to Friday at 06.35, 07.58, 09.40, 17.15 and 22.40 hrs. This last one is too late to catch a ferry (last crossing is always 21.30 hrs). Saturday buses are at 06.35, 17.15 and 22.40 hrs. There are no additional buses on Sunday that only leave from Middle Street’. The details can be found at: www.rapsons.com
